This program
is a participatory event where Webelos Scouts can get the necessary
information they need so they can qualify for their geology badge.
Activities in this program and museum tour includes, but is not limited to the
following:
- Discover the difference between a rock and a mineral.
- Define a mineral geologically
- See and Touch the minerals in Mohs' Hardness Scale.
- Evaluate the hardness of mineral samples.
- Examine minerals and rocks and Discover that they are used
to make the products we use everyday.
- Distinguish the reasons why our planet has earthquakes
and volcanoes.
- Discover the inner workings of a volcano, and will
See and Touch the rocks produced by volcanoes.
The
Webelos Scout leaders will be given handouts to copy for testing the
Webelos' knowledge at a later date in order to qualify for their geology

group to use after the classroom portion of your visit.

- Discover the inner workings of a volcano, and will See and
Touch the rocks produced by volcanoes.

for about 1 hour. Please print and copy the sheet for
your group to use in the museum. The amended Scout Tour
includes the Scout Activity Sheet and take home handouts
